This weekend my wife Lauryn and I attended the Andy Grammar/Fitz and the Tantrums show at Hard Rock Live at Universal's Citywalk. It was my friend George's birthday, and that's where he wanted to have the party. What a cool birthday party. Way better than the smelly bowling alley I went to in 4th grade.

Nothing about this show stunk, however. Andy Grammer is one of the most genuine, uplifting performers I've seen in a long time. It was as much catchy singalongs as it was inspirational speech, bordering on slam poetry at times. His general message that's woven into his show is to be your authentic self. He opened the night with a line that went something like, "Be yourself, because you're the best one for the job." It's so true, why waste energy trying to be something you're not when you can just effortlessly be yourself.

This was also a show where you are constantly thinking, "Dang, I forgot about this one!" Andy Grammer low-key has a TON of bangers. "Honey I'm Good" is the most recognizable, understandably. If you're a casual fan, you might've forgotten about hits like, "Fresh Eyes," "Keep Your Head Up," "Fine By Me," and "Damn it Feels Good To Be Me." We were singing along and dancing almost the entire show.

...and that was just the opener! Fitz and the Tantrums are an incredibly entertaining band, and they showed it on Saturday night. Overall, it was a great time spent with friends and some fantastic entertainment. If you get the chance to see Andy Grammer, it's a ticket you won't regret buying.
