Here is a fun fact that I didn't know but I probably should have….Florida is the alligator hunting capital of the world! Starting just yesterday was the beginning of alligator hunting season. Like every other hunting season there are rules and regulations. This year 7,300 alligator harvest permits are available. The season lasts until November 1st, leaving an entire month for devoted hunters to seize the day. Literally a full day of hunting is permitted this year. The rules used to allow 17 hours a day of hunting. Now, its 24 hours. That's right… 24 hours, every day until the 1st of November will allow hunters the harvest of two alligators.

If you're interested in getting a permit, better luck next year. This year, more than 20,000 people applied for the and the state sold out. Hunters compare receiving a permit to winning the lotto.

Here's another piece of valuable info… Unauthorized alligator hunting is a third-degree felony. You could get 5 years in prison with fines up to $5,000! Not to mention, its not the safest. There's an estimated 1.3 million alligators across the state. In my opinion, that is too many to ever get too comfortable. Be aware, use caution, and if you're interested in hunting next year …

Be sure to check out Florida Fish and WildlifeConservation Commission.

In closing, guess where you won't find me? GATOR HUNTING. However, I will be exploring and learning all about gators with my friends at Gatorland.
One of my favorite Central Florida attractions. That is exactly where I got these cool photos!! Happy hunting friends!
