It’s Read A Book Day!
I haven’t always enjoyed reading. At least that is what I thought as a child. The problem was that I wasn’t finding the right books to spark my interest. Finally, one day I did and my life changed!!
Here are a few reasons why reading is so good!
· Reduces stress and helps you relax. ...
(Wu-sah… lets escape from the day and the chaos. We deserve it.)
· Improves your concentration and memory.
(It’s a nice way to check-yourself! Are you focused? If you’re noticing that squirrel it’s a good indication that reading is what you actually need!)
· Vocabulary expansion …
(Some days words feel hard. That is when I know… girl, it’s time to work the brain and read.)
· Enhances your knowledge.
(Knowledge is POWER)
· Increases your imagination and creativity.
Finding the right book is key! Maybe we share the same interests. If so, here are some of my suggestions:
1. Any Janet Evanovich novel.
I discovered the Plum series while visiting my family in Maryland. I hopped on a train to New York and found myself absorbed in the tales of Stephanie Plum, the bounty hunter with an attitude! There are 27 books in the series so buckle up, it could take a while! Once you’re in it, it is hard to put the book down. It sucks you in like a good series on Netflix.
2. “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho.
It’s been awhile since I have read this book but I remember loving it! It’s all about the pursuit of your dreams. Apparently, the more you read this book… the more hidden messages you'll find. Since I am a sucker for those mind blowing moments, it seems as though it’s time for another read!
3. “The Man Who Tapped The Secrets of the Universe”, by Glenn Clark.
This book was recommended to me by my mentor. It’s an easy and quick read. This book discusses the power of your mind. You’ve got the power!
4. ANYTHING by Colleen hoover…
“Verity”,
“It Ends With Us”
“Ugly Love”
Of course there’s so many more and they’re all so extremely good! I find that Colleen is an easy and uncomplicated writer.
5. “Faithfully Religionless” by Timber Hawkeye.
A few years ago, I walked into a spiritual store looking for some good reads. Beverly, the 80 year old store owner grabbed the book and told me I needed it. The title was a little strange for me. I was certainly skeptical! However, as Bev suggested I read the book and she was RIGHT! I will often reread this gem in honor of sweet Bev who has since passed. Her gift to me… and now my gift to you!
An absolute MUST READ!
