We've all seen a parent who is way too involved with their kid's athletics, but this is insane.
A 50-year-old mom from Pennsylvania named Raffaela Spone went to the extremes to make sure her daughter's high school cheerleading team was victorious over their rivals. She made deepfake photos and videos of the girls on the rival team that made it appear they were vaping, drinking, and naked. She then anonymously sent the images and videos to the team coaches in attempt to get them kicked off of the team.
It didn't work. After the coaches called the police, they were able to trace the deepfakes back to Raffaela. She was arrested last week and is being charged with cyber harassment of a child and other charges. Reports indicate that there is no evidence that her daughter had any knowledge of her mom's crimes.
