Naming a baby can be stressful. After all, this is a permanent name you're giving to the child (unless you're Kylie Jenner). Thankfully, a woman named Taylor Humphrey exists, because she is a self-proclaimed "Professional Baby-Namer" whose services you can employ for anywhere from $1,500 to $10,000.
According to the NY Post, the 33 year-old helped name more than 100 babies in 2020, pulling in more than $150,000. She claims to have always been passionate about baby names, despite not having any children of her own.
“If you look at the most popular baby names, it’s such a telltale sign of our cultural values and our aspirations,” Humphrey told The New Yorker in a profile published Monday.
Recently, the pro baby-namer helped out a couple who couldn't decide on a name for their baby boy. After learning that the pair had shared their first kiss in a town called Parker, she suggested the name Parks. Brilliant. $10,000 seems like stealing for that sort of expertise.
Humphrey says that many of her clients are parents who are on their 3rd or 4th child and have run out of name ideas.
