Pike celebrated his anniversary in America's oldest city

It's becoming a bit of a tradition (two years in a row now) for my wife Lauryn and I to celebrate our anniversary in St. Augustine, Florida. I guess there's something about the city. Maybe it's the old Spanish-style architecture, the numerous little hole-in-the-wall bars and restaurants, or the sheer amount of history packed into the area. Whatever it is, we love it.

We crammed a lot into one short weekend. Starting with a trip to St. Augustine beach on Saturday morning for a nice long walk before lunch (and the rain). We grabbed lunch at the Beachcomber, which has the most ridiculously good Ruby Red Shrimp. They're the size of lobster tails, it's wild.

We then climbed all 219 steps to the top of the St. Augustine Lighthouse, which served as a great reminder of how important cardio is. The views were from the top were stunning, so it was worth it. Then it was off to the historic St. George Street area. This is where you'll find the iconic Castillo De San Marcos National Monument. It was built way back in 1672, and is a must-see when visiting St. Augustine. I took some drone footage of the fort from a distance (flying a drone within the perimeter of a National Park is illegal). Check it out:

The rest of the day was spent patronizing many of the cool shops, restaurants and bars in the area. We did a tasting at the City Gate Distillery, which was delicious but offered way more alcohol than I was expecting. Don't go in with an empty stomach. We also had a martini at the famous Tini Martini. Well, my wife Lauryn had a martini. I stuck with beer. It was a super cute little place, I definitely recommend a stop there.

We had an amazing time, overall. I don't see why we wouldn't be back for our 4th anniversary, or 5th, 6th, etc. If you're in Central Florida and haven't made the hour and a half drive up I-95 to enjoy St. Augustine, I suggest planning a trip!
