As I write this, I'm at work on a Tuesday. The first day back from a long weekend. Almost any other time in these circumstances, the vibes are NOT good. It'd be that Monday feeling times a million. Not today, though. I'm vibin' big time as I sit in my office. Why?
It's week 1 of the NFL season.
As I mentioned in the article's title (hopefully the guy who wrote that Christmas song doesn't sue me), it is by far the most wonderful time of the year. We won't have to go another Sunday without football until February. That means for at least the next 18 Sundays, my rear will be parked firmly on my couch with a beer in my hand while I yell at the TV. This is how I choose to cheer on my team, the Green Bay Packers.
Here's how I see this NFL season shaking out:
1. Packers will win the Super Bowl
Let's just get this one out of the way. Now, I will admit that I've predicted this going into each season for the last 20 years and have only been right once. I really do believe it'll happen this year though. It just has to.
2. Aaron Rodgers will win his 3rd straight MVP
Also spoken like a true homer. I mean this one, too, though. Aaron Rodgers is, in my opinion, the most talented quarterback to ever play the game. I don't care how many championships Tom Brady has won. I've watched every throw Aaron Rodgers has ever made and I've just never seen anyone do it better. He'll solidify his place in history with his 5th total MVP award this season. Oh, Speaking of Tom Brady:
3. Tom Brady will retire before the season is over
He recently had to walk away from the team for almost two weeks for "personal reasons" which were widely speculated to be marital issues with his supermodel wife, Giselle. Between the rumors that she's not happy that he unretired and is playing another season, and the simple fact that Tom is 482 years old in football years (45 in human years), I can totally see him hanging it up early if the Bucs are not playing well.
4. Taylor Swift will do the Super Bowl Halftime show
I hope so, anyway. There's not been an announcement or even rumors yet about who will get the honors this year, but Taylor has got to be the biggest living artist that hasn't done it yet. She couldn't even fit half of her hits into that tiny 15-minute set, but I'd love to see her try.
5. I'll spend Christmas Day in Miami watching the Packers vs Dolphins
This is isn't really a prediction, it's already a done deal, but I wanted to throw it on here. My wife Lauryn and I will be meeting some Packer fan friends of ours in Miami on Christmas Day to attend the game, and I'm absolutely pumped. I've never even been to Miami, so that's a bonus.
There you go, five predictions that will 100% come true this NFL season. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
