Pike's band played a show on this stunning lake in South Dakota

The Low Standards World Tour continued this weekend with a stop in South Dakota. My band has played a lot of interesting shows, but the views that this one offered were top tier. The stage was situated directly on the shoreline of Lake Traverse. I mean, if one of us were to have fallen off of the back of the stage (which is never out of the question for us), we would have been swimming with the fishes. I took some drone footage to try and capture the beauty:

We added a few new covers to our set to spice things up, and they went well. Specifically "Dirty Little Secret" by the All-American Rejects, and "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" by The Darkness. We've been playing cover shows since 2014, so it's nice to switch it up. Not that I still don't love playing "What's My Age Again" for the 1000th time.

Not only did we play a show, but we all took a day off from our regular jobs so we could get some lake time and also write new music. Our five members are super spread out, geographically, so it's hard to get together to write very often. It was a productive jam session. We came out of the weekend with ideas for four or five new songs, and having drank many more beers than that. A very typical Low Standards weekend.
