June is officially here, which means it’s time to curate your Pride playlist and ensure that your music is on lock for a month that is not only celebratory, but also crucial when it comes to sharing queer stories, remembering historical events, and taking an intersectional approach when uplifting members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Celebrate Pride on Audacy with your favorite LGBTQ+ anthems, podcasts, and more right here

These 7 new singles span across the year and highlight various artists who represent members and allies of the community. From emotional and highly personal lyrics to jubilant dancefloor bops, each song demonstrates the different facets of celebration, remembrance, and struggle that we explore particularly during Pride month.

While we may have to hold off until 2022 for Pride to be back at full force, with speakers blaring, false lashes drooping, and tequila sodas sweating, Pride 2021 will still be a small yet triumphant victory, particularly if you’re listening to the likes of Haley Kiyoko, Lil Nas X, Rebecca Black, Big Freedia, Rina Swayama and more.

1 Hayley Kiyoko - Chance

Haley Kiyoko kicked off Pride 2021 by dropping a brand her brand new single, “Chance.” The new synth-pop love anthem goes hand-in-hand with a music video that Kiyoko directed herself. Haley explained that the new single is about, "those moments when I denied my true feelings for someone out of fear of rejection and therefore didn't allow someone to take a chance on me.”

2 Rina Sawayama, Elton John - Chosen Family

Rina Sawayama’s collaboration with Elton John on “Chosen Family” is a power ballad that not only demonstrates Rina’s impeccable vocal chops but also tells a very real story about acceptance. In the song’s music video Elton and Sawayama pour their soul into lines like “we don’t need to be related to relate,” making it feel like an anthem that reaches out to its listeners for one big tender hug.

3 Lil Nas X - SUN GOES DOWN

The latest single from Lil Nas X is a personal one and tells the story of his own coming-out journey, that so many can relate to. Speaking candidly about mental health through his lyrics and grappling with his sexuality, the Popstar uses the track as a vehicle to reach out to fans who might be struggling with their own identities.

4 Rebecca Black - Girlfriend

Viral Queen turned Pop force to reckoned with, Rebecca Black, has become a glittering gem within the LGBTQ+ community and her single “Girlfriend” certainly solidifies the title. The song, which chronicles the ups and downs that come with getting back together with a significant other, was Black’s first self-released single of 2021 and has lead to a plethora of juicy pop singles that have put the former “Friday” sensation back on the map as one to watch.

5 Tayla Parx - Dance Alone

Tayla Parx, the songwriter beyond such superstars as Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony, and so many more, dropped her studio album, Coping Mechanisms, and gave us the single “Dance Alone,” which could surely dominate any dancefloor.

6 Regard, Troye Sivan, Tate McRae - You

Regard, Troye Sivan, and Tate McRae all came together on “You” to give us the grooviest, disco-inspired, summer dance track that our vaxxed girl summer was craving. Whether crying in the club or speeding to the beach, this song makes for the perfect Pride-meets-the beginning of summer soundtrack.

7 Big Freedia - Judas (From Born This Way Reimagined)

Lady Gaga is the Mother Monster that keeps on giving. In celebration of Born This Way’s 10th anniversary, Gaga is releasing reimagined versions of tracks from her famed sophomore album. First on the docket was the legendary Queen Diva, Big Freedia’s, reworking of the single, “Judas.” And let us just, this is a banger. This is the song we all MUST be sweating to on the dancefloor this Pride season.
