Dallas (1080 KRLD) - DFW-based American Airlines has joined other airlines such as Southwest in announcing it is extending its suspension of alcohol sales in the main cabin through September 13.
A company spokesperson said that flight attendants are on the front lines every day, ensuring customer safety and calming fears, answering questions and enforcing policies like federally required face-masks. They also noted that alcohol can contribute to "atypical behavior" and it is necessary to not make an already stressful situation worse.
Alcohol will continue to be offerred in first and business classes but only after takeoff.
