The "deepfake" phenomenon is only going to continue to push the boundaries of reality until one day, perhaps finally, people will truly never believe what they see on the screen.
A new AI-written song has been created in collaboration with Calamity AI and 30HTZ that re-writes Eminem's 1999 classic "My Name Is" and reimagines the lyrics for events closer to 2021. A tease was uploaded earlier this month, titled "‘What if Eminem wrote 'My Name Is' in 2021?" which was also created using AI technology featuring lyrics that reference Billie Eilish‘s "bright green" hair (“you’re so edgy“), Drake, K-pop, Donald Trump, and Twitter.
The final ("unsettling" as one commenter put it) video above is the result of Calamity AI plugging in this cue for Artificial Intelligence to work with: Eminem’s new song is a diss against the patriarchy. He is taking a stand to males and sticking up for women. Verse #1:. From there, the lyrics were sent to 30HZ, who "synthesized and created the vocals." Record producer Rick Rubin takes most of fake-Em's heat in the final version, while fake-Kanye offers up an "apology" to his nemesis Taylor Swift in his verse, starting it off with a ridiculous, "Yeah, Bi***." Again, this audio was not recorded by Eminem or Kanye West.
The Detroit rapper, the real one, recently released an animated lyric video for his song “Tone Deaf” off 2020's Music to Be Murdered By, the timing of which is noteworthy because it arrived just days after Twitter and TikTok users launched an effort to cancel Eminem over his history of controversial lyrics involving themes of violence and domestic abuse. Fans came to his defense saying the controversies were spoken of in the past tense and that is part of his brand.
