Hot on the heels of the debut of their Bravo spinoff series, Kandi And The Gang, Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker joined the Big Tigger Morning Show on Atlanta’s V-103 to fill us in on behind-the-scenes details about the new reality show and share the track that Burruss recorded specifically for the show’s title sequence.

Burruss revealed the initial idea for Kandi And The Gang came from the mind of her television producer husband, Todd. Tucker noted, “you just figure with Kandi’s crazy family and our crazy staff, man they were born for TV. Mixed with food and fun, it was like this is a great show so I put it together, and… it took a little time, but Bravo knew what to do with it.”
Tucker said that watching his idea of their Old Lady Gang southern eatery establishment transform into the makings of a reality show has felt like an incredible accomplishment for him and his family. Tucker joked about ideas adding, “you know as quick as you come up with one, you gotta come up with the next one.”
As Kandi and Todd have been mainstay figures on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta the duo has become accustomed to being on both sides of the camera and shooting intimate moments of their daily lives. However, Kandi And The Gang takes viewers deep into the world of the Burruss and Tucker families.
Kandi shared that filming with family and incorporating her businesses into the show can be challenging. “It’s hard because sometimes our family gets all sensitive about certain things and I’ll be trying to tell them ‘you’re going to be all right, it’s not that deep,’” explained the famed singer and songwriter. “But, they’ll be getting in their feelings and I don’t even know what to say sometimes.”
Tucker explained that even in the trailer for the new series the drama is explosive and that the cast is “authentically themselves.” In terms of the famed Old Lady Gang, comprised of Kandi’s mother Joyce and her two aunts, Nora and Bertha, Burruss said that Mama Joyce and her aunt Nora are the two members of the show that are most sensitive and reactionary.

Kandi revealed that after watching the debut of the show, Mama Joyce was concerned that she’d be portrayed as “the villain again” after many years of difficult moments on RHOA. However, Burruss reassured her mother that after seeing reactions on Twitter alone, viewers loved Mama Joyce.
