Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez are both getting major awards buzz for their roles in Wicked and Emilia Pérez, respectively. And seeing them celebrate each others successes, well, we have been changed “For Good.”

The two superstars, who have had somewhat similar career trajectories — getting their starts on children’s TV shows, becoming massive music stars, and then segueing back to prestige acting jobs — both recently received Golden Globe nominations, which they were able to celebrate together at the Academy Women’s Luncheon presented by Chanel.
Selena who received a Best Actress nomination for her role as Mabel in Only Murders In The Building, has also been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for her performance in Emilia Pérez, the same category Ariana has been nominated in, her first-ever Golden Globe nom for her portrayal of Galinda/Glinda in Wicked.
While being up for the same award might lead one to think the pair would lean towards feelings of “loathing,” the truth is quite the opposite. According to reports, Grande even asked to be seated next to Selena during the December 10 event at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles.
Talking about their love for each other, Ariana told Variety, “I respect her so much, and I’ve always adored her,” referring to SelGo of course. “I was really happy for her to see us on that list together. It was very special.”
“I really love watching this moment happen for Selena,” she said. “I know how hard she’s worked and how long she’s waited. I recognize that because it resonates with me so I know that feeling. So when you can reach out to your friends in the industry and say, ‘Great work, congratulations,’ why not do it?” Adding, “I don’t know Selena as well as I wish I did so I’m excited to sit next to her today.”
While Selena said, “Ariana texted me and it was the sweetest note and it was about six in the morning. We sent each other voice messages. It was very exciting.”
Also sharing a snap of both of their perfectly manicured hands covering their Wolfgang Puck-crafted menus on her IG story, Sel called Ari “an angel on Earth.” Returning the favor, Ariana re-shared and replied, “that’s you,” tagging Selena.
