The Muppets are set to return with Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem taking center stage in The Muppets Mayhem, premiering on Disney+ on May 10. "It's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights" -- The Muppets Mayhem, co-created by Bill Barretta, Jeff Yorkes, and Adam F. Goldberg, stars Lilly Singh as Nora, an aspiring producer helping the band record their first album. Check out the epic trailer below!
As an added bonus, after 45 years as The Muppets' house band, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem -- featuring Dr. Teeth on vocals and keys, Zoot on sax, Lips on trumpet, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on bass, and Janice on lead guitar -- will actually be releasing their very first album in celebration!
Giving Bru an inside scoop on what fans can expect from the brand-new album, Floyd Pepper says it's "a jam-packed explosion, unlike anything your mind or ears has ever heard before. Plainly put, you can expect..."
"ROCK N' ROLL," Animal adds with all emphasis possible, and the best part of the experience was getting to "JAM! JAM, JAM, JAM," he says. "Yeah, yeah, Animal loved playing the music but by far the best part, remember this Animal, was spending time with our best friends in the world like Zoot, Janice, Lips, and Dr. Teeth. They're the hippest cats you could ever meet, Bru," says Floyd. Animal was also sure to include Nora (played by Lilly Singh), Moog (played by Tahj Mowry), and more from the new series as his close friends -- although we're not sure he knows they were playing characters.
As Bru wondered who among the group gets into the most trouble, Animal seemed perplexed by the question, but Floyd let the truth be known. "Me?! Trouble?! Nooooo," Animal said, slightly offended. "Wherever Animal goes, trouble follows Floyd says of his longtime drummer. "That's why most of our gigs are only 'one-night-only,'" he laughs. Animal was less than appreciative of that answer, to say the least, so Bru mentioning singing songs in the shower right after that may have been a bad idea.
"Shower?! No shower, no shower," Animal screamed as he ran off the screen. "I'm sorry Bru, look, you can't bring up showers with Animal. He does not like bath time." Bringing him back, Floyd eased Animal into a hypothetical bathtub situation, "water or no water," where he could find himself singing. His choice, "Rock On," from the group's forthcoming debut album out on May 12. "I dig it too, that's what I was gonna say," Floyd admits. "It's been stuck in my head ever since we laid down that track."
Check out the band's music video for “Rock On,” featuring cameos from Tahj Mowry, deadMau5, Steve Aoki, Paula Abdul, Zedd, Anders Holm, Cheech Marin, and Tommy Chong below.
With so many big-name artists and stars that they got to meet during the filming of Muppets Mayhem, there are still some that slipped through their furry fingers. Sticking to single names, Animal admits hoping to work with Lizzo, Harry [Styles], Billie [Eilish], Frank [Ocean], and Olivia [Rodrigo]. "Yeah we would love to rock with any and all of them," Floyd agrees.
Asked if there was no Muppets Mayhem, no life of Rock N' Roll in the cards for either Muppet, Floyd says he can't see himself doing anything other than rocking the bass and singing songs. Animal, however, would likely have a very successful career as a Rugby player. "Yeah, Rugby! Let's play," he yells just before landing a tackle on Floyd, giving himself some one-on-one time with Bru.
When he's not causing trouble, Animal tells Bru he's really into Disney+'s Star Wars spin-off The Mandalorian, or "MANDO," as he calls it. "Grogu, oh so cute." After recovering, Floyd says he's been rewatching The Muppet Show. "It's good for me to remember where I've been," he says, "so I know where I'm going."
