On Aug. 16, Hadley Louden and his wife witnessed the upsetting scene of their cat being eaten by a coyote in Berkeley Hills.
In retaliation, Louden wrote a Facebook post offering a bounty for the animals, Berkeleyside reported.

"Are you tired of Coyotes threatening your homes, children and pets? Government hands seem tied on this, so we're taking an old-fashioned approach here: $250 offered for each dead coyote caught within 15 miles of my home," he said.
It didn’t take long for authorities to be alerted to Louden’s post as it is not legal to offer a reward for killing wildlife in California.
Eventually Louden backed down from his online statement, telling California's Department of Fish and Wildlife that he did not mean to encourage anyone to break the law, the newspaper said.
