Despite receiving a nomination for the “Friends” reunion, Aniston revealed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” that she will not be attending this year's ceremony because she is concerned about her safety as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

The “Friends” star is currently nominated in the variety special category alongside David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and other producers who worked on the sitcom.

“No, I will not be going,” she told Jimmy Kimmel on his show. “This is a big step for me to just be here. Just baby steps.”

However, she did add that if the “Friends” reunion wins, Ben Winston, the special's producer and director, will accept the award in her absence.

Aniston shared that she has been staying home throughout the pandemic while she also films the second season of “The Morning Show.” On top of that, she’s been safely doing press and visiting her friends Jason Bateman and Cox.

“We had this little bubble of friends — thank God, I love all of you so much — but yeah, it was hard. Weird times,” she added.

In August, the actress revealed that she cut off several people in her life over their refusal to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

“I've just lost a few people in my weekly routine who have refused or did not disclose [whether or not they had been vaccinated], and it was unfortunate,” she told InStyle.

For the television and movie business, the pandemic changed everything rapidly. Due to COVID-19, the red carpet at the 2021 Emmy Awards is going to look different.

The Television Academy revealed that the 2021 ceremony would restrict the number of people allowed on the red carpet, specifically production staff.

Vendors and camera crews will have to show proof of vaccination on the premises and will also need to test negative for COVID-19.

“Out of an abundance of caution and for the safety of Emmy nominees, guests and media, the number of production personnel and staff must be limited at this year’s 73rd Emmy Awards,” the organization said. The Academy added that “there will be a very limited red carpet for talent arrivals,” with only several media outlets allowed.
