Ken Jennings made the move from “Jeopardy!” champion to show host, and there’s one reason he’d never go back to competing.
That reason? Fellow champion James Holzhauer.
Jennings spoke with The Deseret News about being content on the other side of the show from here on out.
“Let me be very clear and on the record here: It’s because I’m terrified of playing James because I think he would win,” Jennings offered. “I’m very happy to be retired from ‘Jeopardy!’ because I think I got away with one in the GOAT [Greatest of All Time] tournament.”
Jennings beat Holzhauer in the 2020 competition.
Holzhauer recently competed on the “Jeopardy!” Masters Tournament and even taunted Jennings on his way to winning.
“Stop ducking a rematch, Ken,” Holzhauer wrote in one of his final answers.
Jennings however holds the “Jeopardy!” wins record with 74 straight. Holzhauer is the only player to win more than $100,000 in a single game.
“I feel very lucky to be retired – ain’t gonna be a rematch,” Jennings said.
