Swift returned to her Country roots to present the award, which she won 15 years ago with her album, Fearless. After acknowledging past recipients of the title including Country greats George Strait, Shania Twain, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn and more, Swift revealed Beyoncé as the 2025 winner for her album, Cowboy Carter.

The two superstars shared a quick embrace on stage as a stunned Beyoncé took to the microphone to express her gratitude and absolute shock. “Wow! I really was not expecting this,” she stated as she tried to gain her composure. “I’d like to thank all of the incredible Country artists that accepted this album. We worked so hard on it.”

She continued on to address her genre shift with this album stating, “I think sometimes genre is a cold word to keep us in our place as artists. I just want to encourage people to do what they’re passionate about and to stay persistent.”

Bey’s wins didn’t end there. She was a top nominee heading into the night with 11 and those turned into three wins; Best Country Duo/Group Performance (“II Most Wanted” with Miley Cyrus), and Best Country Album (Cowboy Carter) and Album of the Year (Cowboy Carter)).
