After hitting it big with the reissue of his debut mixtape F*ck Love, with the addition of his Justin Bieber collab “Stay,” The Kid LAROI’s career hit unimaginable heights. Now he’s back with his first single, “Thousand Miles,” off his debut album, set to be released later this year.

Yes that would be the track that LAROI received recent attention for promoting by pulling a planned TikTok prank, that made it seem he was at odds with his former manager Scooter Braun, by insinuating that Braun was his “last mistake.” After the drama took over the internet, in order to prove it was actually all pre-planned prank, the Australian artist posted text convo screenshots between him and Braun lol-ing at the situation, leading any remaining hateful trolls to quickly move on.
Speaking of moving on, as LAROI broke down in the caption of his announcement post on IG, that was kind of the inspo of the song.
“I wrote this song when I first met my now girlfriend. I really liked her but I knew at the time I couldn’t give her the relationship she deserved due to the direction my life was heading - being young as hell trying to chase the dream I had of being a big artist or whatever. It’s me telling her to stay a thousand miles away from me because I didn’t want to hurt her. But I mean yeah here we are all this time later and I guess it’s goin pretty well lmao.”
“Thousand Miles,” arrived with a Christian Breslauer directed music video, the shows LAROI face off with himself all in the name of love. Sabotaging his alter ego dressed in all white to ruin his chances with a girl played by his IRL gf Katarina Deme, evil LAROI (dressed in red) literally drags himself away with an actual rope, just as he’s about to get them digits.
And evil LAROI doesn't stop there. Other self-sabotaging acts throughout the video include dropping a piano on his head, electrocuting himself, a train collision, and more. Ultimately leading his less than friendly alter ego to win over the affections of the girl in the end.
