After back-to-back seasons in 2020 and 2021 of non-region play, the Chamblee Bulldogs reached the Georgia High School Association state championship tournament in consecutive seasons in 2022 and 2023 with the later being head coach Robert Swank's third season as the Bulldogs head coach.
And while Chamblee missed out on the postseason in 2024, Swank and his staff continued to make strides in building up the program on and off the field. In July of 2024, Chamblee announced the hiring of former Baltimore Ravens running back, and Atlanta native, Jamal Lewis as the team's director of college recruitment, assisting student athletes with exposure through their recruiting process.
Fast forward to Monday and the Bulldogs have tapped another Ravens great in Ed Reed as their new offensive coordinator as announced via the Chamblee X account. "Ed Reed is one of the greatest on the field football players this century, but he is equally great off the field" Swank said in a statement to 92-9 The Game's Daminon Lewis on Monday as he spoke on the Hall of Famer joining the Bulldogs.
Reed, who got his first coaching opportunity as an assistant defensive backs coach with the Buffalo Bills in 2016, also gained administrative experience during his time with his alma mater, Miami, when he joined them in 2020. Now with the opportunity to coach his son, Edward Reed III, a junior wide receiver for the Bulldogs, Reed will have an opportunity to leave his imprint of the Chamblee community.
"I am excited for the lasting impact that he is going to have on the young people at Chamblee High School moving forward," Swank said. "I believe that he will affect our mindset as much as he affects our technique on the field.
