A widow is sharing her heartbreaking story after 6 members in her family contracted COVID-19, resulting in the death of her husband.
Sherica Dalloo, now a single mother-of-four, believes that her former husband of 11 years contracted the virus after her children hosted a sleepover, she told local outlet WPEC.
Dalloo from Doynton Beach, Florida, says her husband, David Dalloo, always wore a mask around the home to lessen the risk of contracting COVID-19, People says.
She claims that the 33-year-old caught the virus from a child who visited their house to spend the night. The child at the time reportedly exhibited no symptoms during their visit.
However, all six family members later tested positive for coronavirus after the visit. David passed away from COVID-related complications on August 28.
"Someone came to our home that was COVID positive. It actually was a child that brought it into our home," Dalloo told the local outlet.
"Our family has changed forever," Dalloo continued. "I'm a widow, with four children that I have to raise, and my youngest is three."
Dalloo is now using her tragic story to try and urge other families to get vaccinated.
"I make sure, if we know people are coming, I say, 'Kids, put your mask on'. Right now, everyone is visiting you and want to see if you're okay," Dalloo said.
"You guys have to be safe, at the end of the day, I don't want you guys to end up in the hospital or pass it on to another relative, maybe older, and something like this happens to them."
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family through their loss. It has since raised over $22,000.
