The 2021 MTV VMAs are set to take place this weekend as the awards show is set to be one of the first to have fans since New York City’s reopening.

We’ve already seen the nominees for this year’s VMAs, now we’re just waiting to find out the big winners.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards.

What

Originally created to celebrate the music video, the VMAs have evolved as a celebration of the best music and pop culture of the year. Each winner takes home a Moon Person trophy. This year’s VMAs will take place on Sunday, September 12 at 8 PM ET/PT and will air on MTV, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, VH1 and The CW Network.

Where

The 2021 MTV VMAs are set to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Who

Doja Cat is set to make her debut as host at this year's VMAs. Presenters include AJ McLean, Ashanti, Avril Lavigne, Billie Eilish, Billy Porter, Conor McGregor, 50 Cent, Cyndi Lauper, Fat Joe, Hailey Bieber, Halle Bailey, Ja Rule, Lance Bass, Megan Fox, Nick Lachey, Rita Ora, Simone Biles, and Travis Barker.

Performers

The MTV VMAs will feature performances from Justin Bieber, Camila Cabello, Doja Cat, Foo Fighters, Machine Gun Kelly, Olivia Rodrigo, Shawn Mendes with Tainy, Twenty One Pilots, Lil Nas X with Jack Harlow, Kacey Musgraves, Alicia Keys with Swae Lee, Chlöe, The Kid LAROI, and Ozuna.
