Felix Silla, the actor best known for playing Cousin Itt on the classic TV series “The Addams Family,” has died. He was 84.
Silla died on Friday from pancreatic cancer, according to Deadline.
The news of his passing was first reported by actor Gil Gerard, who co-starred with Silla on the '70s series “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century."
“Felix died just a few hours ago and the only good I can draw from his passing is that he didn’t suffer any longer. I will miss him terribly, especially the great time we had at our panels,” tweeted Gerard.
Earlier in the day, Gerard shared he spoke to Silla's family the previous evening and noted they were putting him in hospice care.
"It is with a heavy heart that I tell you all that my dear friend of over forty years, Felix Silla, is dying of pancreatic cancer. I spoke briefly with him and his family last night and they tell me that he’s going into hospice care today. Prayers," Gerard tweeted early on Friday.
Donning a hairy costume, sunglasses and a hat, Silla's identity was undisclosed as he transformed into the iconic "Addams Family" character during the show's run from 1964 - 1966.
Silla played the robot Twiki alongside Gerard on "Buck Rogers" and also portrayed an Ewok in "Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi."
Silla took on the roles as he stood just under four feet and weighed around 70 pounds.
Born in Italy, Silla first toured with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus as a trapeze artist in the '50s before starting his Hollywood career.
Other credits include "The Black Bird," “A Ticklish Affair,” “Star Trek”, “Planet of the Apes” and “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.”
Silla is survived by his wife, Sue, whom he married in 1965, and their children, Bonnie and Michael.
