
Miley Cyrus, in a new podcast chat with her sister, Brandi, has revealed that her 2009 “Party In The U.S.A.” pole dancing was actually their mom Tish’s idea, and she was just fine letting her daughter take the blame when the underage singer took some heat.

Cyrus tells her sister Brandi on a new episode of her Billions Club podcast series that the 2009 tour performance of her hit “Party In The U.S.A.”, which included a 17-year-old Miley pole dancing on an ice cream cart, “This is going to be no surprise to you. Do you know whose idea that was?”
After Brandi guessed it was their mother, Miley adds, “Yup, that was my mom’s idea. So she always lets me take the blame. When I got in trouble the next day, you know who was nowhere to be found? Tish Cyrus.”
Although the routine caused plenty of controversy among fans and foes, Miley says she remembers most about those performances getting the chance to wear “real diamond jewelry on stage… You guys remember the little old ice cream truck, but I remember the diamonds,” she said.
In a resurfaced TikTok Miley reveals her mom’s part in the production further, but took some blame herself for the pole dance. “My mom was like, ‘I think it would be really cool if she was in the trailer park, ’cause that’s where we really do come from.’ So, apparently me dancing on an ice cream cart with a stripper pole, but it wasn’t a stripper pole, it was actually just for stability. I had a heel on! Like what did you want from me?” she explains. “Was I really gonna do my performance without dancing on top of an ice cream cart?”
Miley Cyrus has a new album in the works, revealing to Harper’s Bazaar during her recent cover shoot interview that the visual album, tentatively titled Something Beautiful, is inspired by Pink Floyd’s The Wall. "We really leaned in, and so I have this heart-first attachment to it,” she revealed, expressing, “My idea was making 'The Wall,' but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture.”
