honey Ted and I were watching late night tv and ran across the Black Pumas on the Tonight Show. It's been a while since we haven't changed the channel when a live act has come on lately. Just weren't doing it for us. But the Black Pumas caught our attention w/ Colors from their self-titled album. I'm not sure how we missed out hearing about them being based in ATX, but they certainly did ATX proud. Check their sound out!  The Black Pumas are nominated for a Grammy on January 26th for 'Best New Artist'. 
Black Pumas tidbits:

  • Austin, Texas-based neo-psychedelic-soul band led by guitarist-producer Adrian Quesada and singer-guitarist Eric Burton 
  • Grammy-nominated "Best New Artist." Their self-titled debut album is out now on ATO Records. Best New Artist: BLACK PUMAS  BILLIE EILISH  LIL NAS X  LIZZO  MAGGIE ROGERS  ROSALÍA  TANK AND THE BANGAS  YOLA
  • 2019 Black Pumas were named at the Austin Music Awards as best new band and also named “Black Moon Rising” song of the year.
  • 2019 The Guardian newspaper marked the Black Pumas as "Ones to watch".
  • Adian Quesada, before Black Pumas, won a Grammy w/ Grupo Fantasma
  • Eric Burton settled in ATX in 2015 and was visible at the corner of West 6th & Congress Avenue. A friend suggested he call Adrian Quesada. Their partnership began w/ a call when Burton sang along w/ one of Quesada's instrumental tracks.
  • Black Pumas partnership blossomed into a Grammy nominated Best New Artist (group) with all the members involved highly skilled & talented in their instruments. Making beautiful soulful ear candy. 

I may be on the later side of discovery, but I'm excited to discover so much more of the Black Pumas. Good Luck on the Grammy Win y'all! You Soulfully Rock It!
