Mayor Adler announced and released the "Stay Home, Work Safe' order in effect at 11:59pm until April 13 for Travis County and the City of Austin over the COVID-19 outbreak.
The order requires closure of all non-essential businesses and operations. It specifies what constitutes an essential business.
Essential Businesses that can stay open:- Healthcare
- Grocery stores
- Liquor stores
- Farmers
- Social services and charities
- News media
- Gas stations
- Banks
- Hardware and supply stores
- Plumbers
- Electricians
- Exterminators
- Pool cleaners
- Mail and delivery services
- Laundry services
- Restaurants if they remain take-out only
- Businesses that sell supplies to help people work from home
- Transportation services like ride shares
- Legal, accounting, insurance, and real estate services
- IT
- Moving supply services
- Hotels and motels
- Funeral services
- Schools
- Childcare facilities
Essential activities are:
- Getting healthcare
- Necessary supplies like food and items to work from home
- Outdoor activity like exercising if you can maintain social distancing
- Taking care of others
- Performing work or getting services from an essential business or government service
