
There's big money to be made in the Spirits Industry with Black Americans launching their own spirits, beer and wine brands in record numbers. The numbers are growing when it comes to Black women owners. They are creating brands that reflect what they want and who they are. in honor of Women History Month, Thrillist features 10 brands run by powerful Black women to check out.
1. Anteel Tequila /teeqspirits CO-Founder and COO Nayana Ferguson. Being a two-time cancer survivor, she created Anteel for health reasons. Enjoy a cocktail without harmful additives.
2. B. Stuyvesant Champagne Founder Marvina Robinson. Working on Wall Street over 20 years, and switched career gears to becoming one of the few Black women who owns her own champagne brand.
3. Black Momma Vodka Founder and President Vanessa Braxton . The first Black woman to be an owner-operator and manufacturer of a vodka distributed nationally in the US.
4. Fou-Dré Vodka Founder Chanel Turner. She distributes several more Black-owned spirits. She also started the Black-owned Wine and Spirits Festival
5. HH Bespoke Spirits and Beverages Co-Founder and CEO Shay Wood. Also a founder with her husband of Harlem Haberdashery boutique showcasing their apparel brand 5001 Flavors worn by celebrities such as Notorious B.I.G., Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, and Jay-Z.
6. Hidden Spirits Cocktails Engineer / accidental bootlegger owner Pam Davis. One of the few Black spirit-owners who manufacture their own products. Ready-to-drink beverages,
7. Love Cork Screw Wines Founder Chrishon Lampley . Her wines are sold in more than 300 stores.
8. LS Cream Liqueur CO-Founder Myriam Jean-Baptiste. LS Cream has won 5 international medals in the past 4 years.
9. Uncle Nearest Whiskey Founder and CEO Fawn Weaver. Her brand is the fastest-growing independent American whiskey in U.S. history.
10. T-Capri Tequila Founder Tiffany Capri Hainesworth. She worked for the federal government for 30 years until a life-changing accident. She took a different path creating T-Capri.
