Update 10/2:
Austin Parks and Recreations Department put out the update about the City of Austin's decision regarding Flo. After 100 years, due to major safety concerns, Flo will be taken down on Thursday 10/5.
ATX is having a 'Celebration of Life' for Flo on Wednesday 10/4 at 6:30p at Barton Springs Pool. It will include a water blessing, kind words about Flo's 100 years of history and live music. You're invited to share your 'Flo Stories' by email at treestories@austintexas.gov. See what others wrote about 'Flo' here. May Flo R.I.P!

Last week the word came out that the iconic leaning pecan tree known as 'FLO' would have to go. FLO was confirmed to have Kretzschmaria deusta / brittle cinder fungus. It feeds on live tissue and can cause a healthy-looking tree to collapse. This makes FLO's leaning location for Barton Springs Pool goers dangerous.
After Arborists confirmed there was no saving FLO, a Celebration of Life Ceremony was scheduled for Wednesday 9/13 @ 7pm. Asking folks to share their FLO stories and photos treestories@austintexas.gov. It's all for FLO while getting ready for removal on Thursday 9/14.
BUT WAIT! Monday 9/11 an update came out! Austin Parks and Recreation decided to delay FLO's ceremony and removal while they review more considersations. Does this mean FLO can be saved? We will have to wait and see what this delay for a review will bring to light! Be sure to send out lots of positive 'GO FLO' vibes in the universe.
