Chadwick A. Boseman was taken from this world way to early at the age of 43 due to colon cancer. He kept it to himself, which shocked many when the news came out he had passed away August 28, 2020. According to the Washington Post, Howard University students wanted their 2000 alumnus legacy to live on. They petitioned to have the newly reformed College of Fine Arts to be named after the 'Black Panther star'. The historically black college tweeted the news.

Chadwick Boseman came back to Howard University to give the commencement speech to the Class of 2018. When the announcement was made about the re-established College of Fine Arts, he was filled with ideas and support for the effort. Even though he didn't live to see the plans come together, his legacy will continue through the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts supported by his wife, Simone Ledward-Boseman, and the Chadwick Boseman Foundation.

Howard University President Wayne A.I. Frederick shared a tweet with photos of college student Chadwick Boseman.
