May is National Bike Month! It started in 1956 getting people across the country involved in their communities with the benefits of bicycling and encouraging them to give biking a try. Depending on where you live, biking can be enjoyed all year around. Although May seems to be the best time of the year for a nationwide celebration. This week, May 17-23 is #BiketoWorkWeek. Or try one day, this Friday, May 21 is #BiketoWorkDay!
The Ghisallo Cycling Initiative has big love for biking and the importance it has for the youth in the Austin and San Antonio communities. GCI is a non-profit that helps give young riders supervised outdoor activity time, while they develop skills and knowledge to become self-sufficient riders using their bikes for transportation. A program that focuses on exploration, navigation and transportation. GCI celebrates the entire month of May with biking events such as self-guided tours, delivering farm fresh food in their community, and even a Bike Film Festival with the theme: Community & Connectedness.
Are you thinking .. I wish Ghisallo Cycling had something for adults to help get into biking? Well, here you go! Bike Start for adults. A clinic that covers the basics of riding.
