My wife and I are trying to branch out into the world of overnight camping. What better place to launch this new lifestyle than the beach! Just a few hours south of Austin, Mustang Island State Park is one of our favorite places in Texas. The beaches, the water, the wildlife-it has it all...including the option to drive your car right onto the beach and set up camp for the night! They even allow a small campfire! Falling asleep to the sounds of the waves crashing just yards from your sleeping bag was an amazing experience. Plus, we woke up and watched the sun rise over the Gulf of Mexico. It was an incredible trip-highly recommended!
