Learn the hand signal that could be a lifesaver

The Good from TikTok

Learning a simple hand gesture could be a lifesaver. It's been making the rounds on TikTok, and has gotten even more attention when a missing teenager from North Carolina used it riding in a car in Kentucky. A woman driving nearby recognized it, and called the police while tailing the car. After a traffic stop a 61 year-old man was arrested. The discreet hand gesture saved her life.

The “Signal for Help” is simple - display your hand, palm out, then close your fingers over your thumb. Knowing this could be a lifesaver. It was created by by The Canadian Women’s Foundation when the pandemic started with the lockdown. A way to get help against domestic violence at home. The awareness has spread on TikTok and other forms of social media. A silent way to signal distress during a video call without leaving any digital evidence for the abuser.

Spread the word! Knowledge is power, and in this case could be a lifesaver! Take Care. Stay Safe.
