Spring is almost here! It's already reached 91 last week with another expected this week and it's winter! It looks like lots of pool action will be needed to stay cool in ATX, if this is an early preview. Last year, less than half of ATX's pools were open due to a lifeguard shortage.
Austin Parks & Recs is getting a jump on the lifeguard hiring pool situation. At least 850 lifeguards are needed this summer in ATX. Those who make it through training successfully could also receive a $400 incentive bonus. There's paid sick leave. Those hired will work in one of the 30 pools in the Austin area.
