The Pink Meanie's ( Drymonema larsoni) have been spotted in the Gulf Coast. They tend to appear every 10-12 years! Rather large pink in color jellyfish. They enjoy eating up the moon jellyfish. And, YES, they will sting you if you get to close. They can come in at around 50 lbs. The word is their sting isn't to bad, and a rash forms afterwards. It's considered minor, although I'm not sure I'd want to test it. I'm figuring they're called 'Pink Meanies' for a reason. I wouldn't want a pack of them heading my direction. Would you?

Watching from faraway is cool with me. Although the Pink Meanies are BIG, they aren't anything like the Lion's Mane jellyfish. 'The Jaws' of JELLYFISH! These are more open water / ocean lovers, not known to be in the Gulf of Mexico. How SCARY would it be to swim up on this!!!!
