The message above can be found on the wall of the newest Salvation Army Austin center for families in crisis. The need continues to grow in Central Texas even with the two shelters The Salvation Army Social Services Center and the Austin Shelter for Women and Children open. Thanks to Sara and Dick Rathgeber, a third shelter opened on February 26, 2020.

The Rathgeber Center is the largest shelter of its' kind in Central Texas that allows dads, moms, and guardians to stay with their children. A place where families experiencing homelessness can get a warm meal together and a safe place to sleep.

Members of Team Audacy Austin: Mix 94.7, Majic 95.5, HOT 95.9 & Talk 1370 were able to see how things work at the Rathgeber Center on a guided tour by Stacy Ehrlich, the Salvation Army ATX's Director of Development. She and the entire crew work extremely hard with love and respect for all who come for help at the Salvation Army Austin. It wasn't easy opening and running a new center the same time COVID-19 hit. They Rocked it!

The Rathgeber Center has the resources to help families that also comes with special community touches. There are several shared areas that includes a cafeteria, laundry facilities and a learning center with computers from Dell! An extra special touch was each room was given it's own personality created with love. There is inspirational feel-good art all over the center thanks to the ASID - Austin Design Community.

When you give to the Day of Giving, your donation will be matched 3:1, meaning your $25 gift will become $100. This will give a family in crisis 4 nights of shelter in a safe place. It provides access to critical resources and a path to safe housing for men, women and children experiencing homelessness. A triple match made possible thanks to wonderful sponsors: John Paul Dejoria's Peace, Love & Happiness Foundation and the Moody Foundation. Feel Good Helping Others! GIVE HERE!
