SXSW 2026 was filled with a little bit of everything-amazing music, tech, speakers...and of course, new movies!
I was fortunate enough to catch a screening of the new film "Pretty Lethal" at the Paramount. The screening also featured a Q and A with the film's director(Vicky Jewson) and writer (Kate Freund).
The film(now streaming on Amazon Prime) follows a group of ballerinas on an overseas trip...which soon turns into a nightmare. The girls must learn to fend for themselves and work together to escape a horror scene. It definitely had some "Kill Bill" vibes(especially since it also stars Uma Thurman). It was also packed with some great action scenes and some humor as well. It was a lot of fun to see with an audience-there are some one liners that brought the house down. Maddie Ziegler(of Dance Moms fame) is a standout, but all the girls are given some screen time to show off their skills. Don't mess with prima ballerinas! This is a good one to watch at home as well, catch it on streaming! (4 stars out of 5)
Now on Streaming!
