With their impact beyond just music and GRAMMY nominations (which is accomplishment enough), Halsey, who’s been named one of Time's Most Influential People, has aspired for even more, starring in feature films, LGBTQA+ advocacy work, becoming a NY Times best-selling author and mother. And during this chat Halsey get’s into it all.

First discussing how having to put her Manic Tour plans on hold during the pandemic was a blessing in disguise, leading her to have some downtime to write, If I Can't Have Love I Want Power, and having less time and more freedom to “not plan and overthink” her current Love and Power Tour has given her the opportunity to be “very in the moment.”

Halsey and Tamara touched on variety of different topics, eventually landing on Halsey’s euphoric experience of acting alongside Sydney Sweeney in her first feature film, National Anthem, and eventually for The Players Table, which Halsey is more than just acting in.

“We're still writing," she says of the project based on Jessica Goodman's 2020 novel, adding, “we took a little bit of time during the pandemic because the project was a collaboration between myself, Sydney and a company headed by Jean-Marc Vallée… an absolutely iconic and legendary auteur…who passed away unexpectedly during the pandemic. Sydney was really close with him, and as I got to know through the process, was an absolute huge fan of him and his work. So we’re taking our time with it, because there’s a lot of incentive to make it as best as it can possibly be for him and in honor of him."

However, “during that time,” Halsey actually ended up shooting a different movie with Sydney.

“I went to Albuquerque and I shot it for two months, and it was such a crazy experience, I had never experienced anything like it. I totally fell in love with the process and with the director and the writer Tony Toast, and getting to be on set with people like Sidney Sweeney, who is a friend and helped me a lot through that process of kind of being like ‘okay, what do I do?’”

Halsey also went on to note, that the process of being able to work with Sydney “was really awesome, cause we kinda got the opportunity to kinda cut our teeth and work together in that way in preparation for the show that we’re developing together.”

For all that and a whole lot more form Halsey, listen to the entire episode above.
