Jennifer Lopez is playing a pop star who gets married on a whim in her latest film.
The 52-year-old actress stars as a fictional international music diva, Kat Valdez, in the new musical romantic comedy “Marry Me.”

Latin music sensation Maluma stars as her boyfriend and a fellow singer who is set to wed Lopez live on stage as part of a streaming event. But after finding out he’s been cheating on her, Lopez continues with the nuptials by selecting a random man in the audience (Owen Wilson) holding a sign that reads “marry me.’
Comedy and heartwarming moments ensue as Lopez and Wilson try to navigate being newlyweds while barely knowing each other.
"We both did this, so whether we like it or not, we're in this together. We have to embrace the spontaneity of the moment,” Lopez says to Wilson in the clip. “I don't want to be the punchline.”
In addition to seeing Lopez in a gorgeous wedding gown, the film features new music by both the “Waiting for Tonight” songstress and Maluma. The ballad “On My Way” was released alongside the trailer, while Lopez and Maluma previewed sounds from the soundtrack last year with the sultry two-part music video for "Pa Ti" and "Lonely."
Lopez has starred in a slew of romantic comedies throughout her career including “The Wedding Planner,” “Maid In Manhattan,” “Monster-in-Law,” “Shall We Dance,” “The Backup Plan,” and “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.” While her 2003 rom-com “Gigli” may not have been a box office success, it did lead to a relationship with Ben Affleck, which the pair rekindled earlier this year.
“Marry Me” is set to hit theaters in time for Valentine’s Day on February 11, 2022.
