The jackpot for the national Powerball drawing has swelled to its second-largest sum of 2021, with the prize now sitting at about $416 million for tonight’s drawing.

The biggest purse of the year totaled $731.1 million this past May. That pot was won by a ticket sold in Maryland.

To win the big money, players have to match the six numbers on the ticket exactly – five white balls with numbers ranging from 1-69 and one red “Powerball” that falls between 1-26.

Players have just a 1 in 292.2 million chance of hitting the lucky sextet, but there are other sums up for grabs for other combinations of matched numbers that fall short of hitting on all six, including $1 million for matching all five white balls without hitting on the Powerball.

Tonight’s drawing will take place at 11pm ET.
