While Alaska does feel like that block of time has passed, she doesn’t feel like much has changed in regards to the way she views and goes about drag. “I don’t feel really any different, and also my perspective on drag doesn’t really feel any different… Like at its essence, I still feel like I’m doing what I was doing when I first started going out and being a crazy drag queen.”

This past year Alaska’s been keeping busy, being on the road and going on tour in support of her album, RED 4 FILTH.

When creating the musical endeavor that Corey compared to a Pop-Rock opera, Alaska recalled, “I was afraid that everyone was gonna think I was crazy when I was like ‘okay so instead of just standing there and singing my songs, I want to make it like a story. That’ll be easy right?’” Rhetorical of course, Alaska added, “no it was not easy, and thank God for everyone who stepped in… I’m glad that there are people that can make my hallucinogenic visions come to life.”

Alaska also talked about her OutTV documentary style behind-the-scenes show about her Drag Queen of the Year Pageant Competition Award Contest Competition, spilling a little tea about the type of “drama” this new season will bring. As well as getting into the importance of what the Pageant Competition Award Contest Competition is really all about at its core.

“Our pageant is not just about drag with a capital D. We’ve always been about supporting the trans community, who are also super under fire and really anyone from the queer community that I don’t think is served properly by this sort of one mainstream-ification of drag.”

And Alaska didn’t stop there. To hear everything she had to say, press play on the interview above.
