HOUSTON -- Texans top cornerback Bradley Roby was held from the preseason finale Saturday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a concussion suffered in practice last week, head coach David Culley revealed Monday afternoon.
Culley characterized Roby's injury as "a slight concussion," adding the team did not want to risk his health by playing him in the final game.
Aside from the concussion, Roby would not be available to play in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to serving the final game of a six-game suspension levied last season for banned substance violation.
Instead, the Texans will rely on Terrance Mitchell, Vernon Hargreaves III, and nickel corner Desmond King II.
