Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie weren’t fast friends prepping for upcoming movie “Maude v Maude.”

Speaking with Variety, Berry discussed the film, her second in the director’s chair, and working with Jolie on it.

“We had a rocky start and I think that is going to serve us well in our screen time together,” Berry told the publication, then adding she was “thrilled to work with another woman and craft a story with our sensibility and from our point of view. She is formidable.”

Berry didn’t go into definite detail describing the pair’s issues, but said the story is a “good one.” She did open up a bit about how their relationship has grown since.

“We’ve been talking a lot about divorces and exes,” the “Monster’s Ball” actor said. “We bonded, let’s say that.”

Both movie stars have had public divorces, Berry after eight years of marriage to Olivier Martinez and Jolie’s divorce from Brad Pitt after four years.

Berry went on to describe new film “Maude v Maude” as an action comedy that will find both women fighting “physically and intellectually.” She also said it has a good deal of heart.

“It’s a love story at its core but it deals with the supernatural, time travel, and the future,” she said.
