Ice-T can’t believe Mariska Hargitay’s Benson and Christopher Meloni’s Stabler have not “hooked up” on “Law & Order: SVU.”
Ice-T and Hargitay spoke with EW to promote the recent start of the show’s 25th season. The rapper/actor joined the show in its second season, with Hargitary being involved since the beginning. Meloni’s Stabler and Harigtay’s Benson have always had a close relationship on the show that has not taken the next step (Stabler is now the lead on “Law & Order: Organized Crime”).
“Y’all haven’t hooked up yet at all?” Ice-T asked Hargitay during their conversation. “Close, right? Almost a kiss?”
“No, just two times in season 4,” Hargitay answered through laughter. “No. We have not hooked up.”
“Okay. But you didn’t? Season 26!” Ice-T then asked, getting the season number incorrect.
“Big fan,” Hargitay jokingly responded.
Ice-T then claimed fans online want nothing more than to see Benson and Stabler become a couple.
“People think this show’s real. There like, ‘Yo, tell Chris to come back.’ I’m like, ‘I’m not Dick Wolf. I can’t tell Chris just to come… that’s not how it works!'” he said. “My fans are like, ‘Tell Mariska to go over to ‘OC’ and give Chris some lovin’.’”
“Law & Order: SVU” airs Thursday on NBC.
