
Jason Momoa is using his platforms to support his home state.
The action star took to his official Instagram account to shine a light on the catastrophic wildfires in Maui at the moment, which have resulted in dozens of deaths and as many as 1,000 people missing on the island.
“We are devastated and heartbroken for our friends and ‘ohana on Maui who have been impacted by the recent wildfires,” Momoa’s caption reads. He reposted information from community organization ‘Āina Momona.
The repost read, "On Tuesday, August 8, 2023, a terrible combination of drought conditions and hurricane weather led to widespread wildfires across the Island of Maui. Families were forced to evacuate on short notice, many escaping with only the clothes on their backs. Information on injuries and fatalities is still coming in. Lahaina town is gone. Many other places on Maui were also affected. We continue to send pule (prayers) to this incredible community."
He also shared a link to donate.
Honolulu-born Momoa also shared a locator list to aid those searching for loved ones.
He used his Instagram Stories to share information of organizations offering aid in the disaster, according to CNN.
The “Aquaman” star frequently uses his large online presence to showcase and boost organizations in Hawaii which aim to support its culture and environment.
