John Stamos still gets emotional when discussing his late friend Bob Saget.

In conversation with InStyle, the actor discussed his new memoir, “If You Would Have Told Me,” and opened up about losing Saget and how it changed the dynamic of the once very close “Full House” cast.

“The sad thing about losing Bob — I mean, there were a lot of reasons [it was sad], obviously — was that he was the guy who really kind of kept us together,” Stamos said through tears.

He mentioned how the “Full House” cast used to get together for barbecues and pool parties for years after the show concluded.

“We try; we talk. But we’re not together as much as we used to [be],” he remarked.

“We were a family, and I think people got that too; both on and off camera,” he said.

Elsewhere in the conversation Stamos recounted parts from the memoir about the beginning of “Full House,” where he assumed he’d be the main star power, but quickly realized it would be the children. He even discussed getting the Olsen twins fired at one point.

“If You Would Have Told Me” hits shelves Oct. 24.
