Always the life of the party, Swedish singer Tove Lo joined Audacy host Julia while backstage this weekend in Chicago at Lollapalooza 2022, hot on the heels of the release of her newest single, "2 Die 4."

Although she's already been teasing the new single in her setlist, Tove Lo says it was time to drop the single officially as her fans were tired of her playing games with their hearts. "The response has been really, really great," Tove Lo adds. "I'm so, so happy with that song."
Now on her third Lolla performance, she's always excited to return to the "Windy City" for the long-running festival and take in as many acts as she can while on the grounds. This year, artists like Caroline Polachek, Black Coffee, Lil Baby, and Zhu, however just like the rest of us, sometimes schedules overlap so she may have to make some hard choices.
Looking ahead, fans can expect her fifth studio album, Dirt Femme, to arrive on October 14, featuring the track "2 Die 4" of course, plus eleven more. "It's kind of about my relationship with my femininity and how it's helped and hurt me in my life and what it means to me now. Just a lot of questions but no answers," she admits. "A lot of thoughts and feelings."
"The whole album is very sort of dramatic and cinematic, and emotional and vulnerable... and I think visually I've tied it in more together with the title; every song has its own movie character in a way." The music, always personal Tove Lo acknowledges, came first but after listening through she reveals she was able to decipher some meaning and apply characters that would visually stimulate as well. And if the "big d***" energy" exuded in the visual for "2 Die 4" can be used as a golden indicator, we can't wait to see the rest of the cast she's gathered!
