(SportsRadio 610) - Finally, the Texans have fired Jack Easterby, someone who held power in this organization far too long.

Now that the moment is finally here, I present a list of perplexing things said by Easterby during his tenure as executive vice president of football operations.

- That one of the worst things about the 4-win 2020 season was that a few players didn’t have the right pants on in the Green Bay game. I made fun of him like crazy for this to the point he was clearly embarrassed.

I said, “DeAndre Hopkins could’ve played in Rockets hoop shorts and I’d been ok with it.” The whole table laughed and his face turned red. Throughout the dinner I kept saying pants and laughing, even said it when I left.

- Easterby claimed one of the reasons he left New England was that Robert Kraft secretly told him to try to take as many notes as possible on Bill Belichick and clone him and he said, “I couldn’t do that to Bill.” This was a weird claim, but he said it with a straight face.

- Easterby tried to hand the members of the media quotes and data for favorable articles he was pitching to be written about him and the organization. Literally had a pile and was passing it around with quotes and data

- Jack said he had nothing to do with Brian Gaine leaving, which I rolled my eyes at and pressed him on. He then said that every move Bill O’Brien made was all O’Brien’s decision despite being on the record saying different at press conferences and selling the DeAndre Hopkins trade to me personally.

- Easterby was very proud of the Ross Blacklock pick and the random fourth round pick swap in the DeAndre Hopkins trade.

- He said that nobody could work with O’Brien and eventually CEO Cal McNair decided to fire him because of his volatile personality.

- When asked what the best thing he brought to the table was he said, “I brought this organization Nick Caserio.”

- He claimed he has NEVER lied, NEVER. Despite the fact that he must’ve forgotten that he had another one of these off-record things with O’Brien the previous year and had said the opposite of what he was currently saying.

- Easterby repeatedly said that the Texans needed new facilities, specifically a new practice facility, and that he wanted their work area layout to resemble Google where the communication was more fluid.

- He challenged me to name one player who’d ever gone on record about him. When I mentioned Andre Johnson’s Tweet Easterby minimized it and said Andre was just hurt and emotional about losing. He also said he had private meetings with Andre and his agent to teach him about what it took to be a GM and said he’d always been there for Andre to help his potential coaching or front office career.

- Said he tried to teach Andre Johnson what it took to be a GM and mentored him. Said he had no idea why Andre turned on him.

- Blamed Cal for all bad, but then said the best thing he has done here was bring in Caserio.
