Could Deshaun Watson be traded in the coming days?
No one really knows.
But according to a report from Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, there is a belief in league circles that Watson — who has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault and harassment — could be traded in the coming days, and the Dolphins and Panthers are believed to be finalists.
Multiple executives from teams not directly involved in the discussions tell PFT that there's mounting chatter that Watson will be traded in the coming days….The two finalists are believed to be the Panthers and the Dolphins. (The Broncos and Eagles also had been linked to Watson.) If it happens, it would turn things upside down for whichever team gets Watson.
Reporters out of Carolina are shooting down the notion that the Panthers are finalists for Watson.
"Regarding Deshaun Watson, I'm told Panthers aren't interested and are rolling with Sam Darnold," wrote Joe Person, who covers the Panthers for The Athletic. "Could be different down the road."
Yahoo! Sports' Charles Robinson reports the Dolphins have emerged as the frontrunner for Watson, but it's been understood for a while to be the quarterback's preferred destination.
The Texans seem to have already moved on from Watson, with Tyrod Taylor as their starting quarterback and third-round rookie Davis Mills possibly waiting in the wings.
No one expects the Texans to be very good this season, and there is a chance they land a high draft pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, where they could seek a franchise quarterback.
Either way, Watson's time in Houston is winding down one way or another, whether that's him being a healthy scratch throughout the season, or landing on the Commissioner's Exempt List (essentially paid leave), or outright suspended.
The Texans are asking for a haul in return for Watson -- possibly four first round picks and more, or as Robinson reported, three firsts and two second-round picks.
