Whether you call it the "Iron Man House," by it’s official nickname "Razor House" or as it’s now famous inhabitants have dubbed it "Dreamland," one things for sure, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz' north of San Diego cliffside modernest mansion, made of white concrete and glass, is absolutely stunning.
Opening their doors to Architectural Digest, Alicia and Swizz explained the interior design decisions they made with interior designer Kelly Behum to help make the modern mansion as homey as can be. Using warm neutral tones, cozy materials, flooded with artwork — more than 1,000 pieces collected over a 20-year span, and plenty of thriving greenery.

While to some, the property is known as and nicknamed "Razor House,” after the nearby Razor Point Trail, the residence, which was built in 2007 and rumored to be inspired by the home of Tony Stark — thus why "Iron Man House," has always been a dream for the music producer. Swizz even admitted that he set an image of the home as his lock screen to manifest it one day belonging to him and his family, with that moment finally coming to fruition in 2019.
But to Alicia, Swizz and their children Egypt and Genesis, the home is known as “Dreamland.”
"We do a lot of dreaming so it doesn't get in the way of whatever we can possibly imagine," Alicia noted.
"Dreamland" is perched upon the cliffs of La Jolla, California, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, which you can see from the moment you step inside it’s grand entryway and circular formal living room.
"There is something about the circle that feels so good," Alicia said. "Especially with the view and the water, which feels so calming and peaceful. This is the perfect way to welcome people in.”
Among, the art, sculptures and incredible furniture is perhaps the most precious piece of all — the first piano Alicia was given by her record label, 17 years ago. Which she now uses to work with the couple's 11-year-old son Egypt on honing his skills and to give the family free at-home concerts.
"My son gets to play on my first piano," Alicia said. "I didn't have anything that ever looked like this before. I always kept it, it's always been with us and now that Egypt plays on this piano, it's pretty amazing.”
Despite all the luxury of expensive artwork, light furnishings and pieces, the main goal for the couple is for their home to feel like their music.
"When you hear a song or something we've produced, the foundation is to make people feel good and feel loved. That's what our art is about," Alicia shared. "When you come into our home, that's exactly what we want you to feel. We want you to feel loved, to feel safe, to feel relaxed. We want you to have a great meal. We want you to feel inspired.”
