HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- Texans defensive lineman Charles Omenihu is one of notable players listed as inactive in Sunday's game against the New England Patriots at NRG Stadium.
Omenihu is a healthy scratch for the first time this season. He was benched two games ago, against the Carolina Panthers, in favor of Jonathan Greenard and Jacob Martin. That continued through last week's blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills.
The Texans' 2019 fifth-round pick out of Texas has yet to record a sack but has three quarterback hits this season. He played 64 percent of the defensive snaps against the Bills; 32 percent of the snaps against the Panthers; 59 percent against the Cleveland Browns and 64 percent in the season-opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
With Omenihu out, the Texans will rely on Greenard, Martin, Whitney Mercilus, Jordan Jenkins and DeMarcus Walker, who plays both inside and outside along the defensive line.
Also inactive Sunday are former Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola and running back Rex Burkhead.
Amendola, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury since Week 2 against the Browns, is notable on the inactive list because his availability was the explanation for waiving Anthony Miller earlier in the week. Burkhead is one of five running backs on this roster, while the Texans have produced one of the worst run games in the league. He is inactive along with running back Scottie Phillips.
